The term branding, people use it sometimes interchangeably with logo design, identity design, a tag line e.t.c

Branding is not a logo, it is a symbol that identifies a brand. Get this branding and brand in the context of business is a bit different. A brand is not a product either. Some say a brand is promise a company makes to its customers though there is a bit of truth because it ends up acting a promise to the customers, it is not a brand though. In advertising they say it’s sum of all the impressions a company makes to it’s audience but that’s true if you are selling impressions.


So what really is a brand?

A brand is a result, it’s a customer’s gut feeling about a product, service or company. It ends up in their heads and in their hearts. Because of individual judgement 1 brand is seen in thousands of ways because everyone has an image of their own about your brand. A brand is like a reputation. So most people think a brand is what services they offer, what products they sell but a brand is really a result of what you are doing so having a logo or a tagline is not branding but what happens in people’s head is branding. So the question to see if your branding is right is what’s the reputation we have created through the products you are putting out, the services you are offering, the design and feel or even our culture(how is it affecting the people), how people associated with your company behave. Everyone in the company affects the brand whether it’s doing something with the brand, for the brand or hurting the brand.
